Dogs Need Different Diets At Different Ages
Dogs Need Different Diets At Different Ages
Dogs need different diets at different ages. Yes. This is true. For example, the puppy needs milk as the major food item while an adult dog may need beef or chicken in addition to the boiled egg and milk. So depending on the age factor, the diet schedule varies in reality for the dogs like any other species.
Introducing Cats to Dogs
The same system can be used with cats and dogs, but after a week or so of eating at opposite sides of the door, a face to face meeting, with the dog on a lead, in the same room, can take place. Make sure the dog obeys its commands to ‘Sit’, ‘Stay’, etc., and have the two animals at first on opposite sides of the room with the cat held on somebody’s lap. Titbits should be proffered all round. This scenario should be repeated many times until there is no sign of aggression or fear from either party, the cat in particular not struggling to get away. Then the two animals can slowly and progressively over a number of meetings be brought closer to one another. The dog should be praised and rewarded for good, obedient behaviour in the presence of the cat, never punished, so that it does not come to regard the cat as being the cause of any punishment. That could lead to the dog ‘taking it out’ on the cat when it got the chance. The next stage is for you to arrange scenarios where the dog and cat meet in the same room with the door closed. Don’t rush bringing the two together; let them take their time. The dog must be watched carefully and on its best behaviour, calm and obedient, with no excited prancing about or barking. You will need patience as the scenario will have to be repeated perhaps many times, but eventually the two pets will metaphorically shake hands, or paws, and become friends. Additional considerations When introducing a cat into a household in which a dog is already resident, you should bear the following considerations in mind: 1) The cat must have escape routes and sanctuaries in the house available at all times. Faced with a bothersome dog, a cat’s first reaction is to flee and hide rather than make a fight of it. 2) When you are away from home during the introductory period, you should always keep the two animals separate. 3) Always feed the cat on a shelf or a working surface - somewhere high that the dog cannot reach. As ever, a high vantage point will give the cat a feeling of security and contentment. 4) Place the cat’s litter tray somewhere where it can gain access, but the dog cannot. Keep the cat flap locked until peace and amity reign in order to deter the cat from leaving home for good. 5) Feed the dog separately and alone; dog food is not suitable for cats and a cat trying to take a mouthful from the dog’s bowl could cause the dog to react tetchily. 6) Until the dog is totally unconcerned by the presence of the cat, you should leave its lead attached to its collar, even in the house, just in case it decides to make a dash for Puss and you have to grab it. 7) It is sometimes worthwhile giving the cat and the dog each its own territory; for example, the cat having upstairs and the dog downstairs. There should be no trespassing, to begin with at least.
Don’t rush things. Remember that the introduction period between the two species can be as long as three months or even longer.

adopting a dog or a puppy
Since time immemorial, dogs have held a secure place in man s hearth and home, whether it be merely for use as mousers and ratters, as in the middle ages, or to act as a guard of the household or purely as a companion to his owners. There has been no change in this scenario down the years and dogs remain, to this day, the animal that the largest numbers of humans adopt as their pet.
Perhaps it might be of interest for us to try and work out the various reasons why people want to have a dog. After all, they ve been part of human households for quite a while. It is said that dogs are descended from a creature, which was very similar to a wolf, called Tomarctus. Apparently, it wandered the earth some 15 million years ago. Since the transformation into their current form, the first known records show them as being pets to cavemen. Exactly what caused the cavemen to keep dogs as pets instead of some other creatures can only be guessed at. Perhaps they helped him in his hunts, or acted as a guard or just provided companionship in the desolate wilds.
Today, the situation can be said to be somewhat different, although companionship and providing security still remain valid reasons. Let s look at some of the other reasons why people keep dogs.
It could be because the owner has just lost a dog that he considered his best friend and feels frantic to get another one. This would be one of the most common reasons for wanting a dog. Once you discover the joys of having a dog around you, one that becomes your friend and companion; it becomes hugely difficult to do without his friendly presence.
A second reason could be the keeping up with the Jones s syndrome. A family or a person living close to you have got themselves a dog and you see for yourself the fun they are having with their new pup. That is when you start thinking to yourself how much a dog could enrich your life and that of your family. Their selfless love and devotion can t but thrill you when you come back into your house. If you live by yourself, all the more reason for you to get yourself a friend . Someone who is genuinely happy to see you and who likes your company above all others.
A further reason for people bringing dogs into their homes is because someone in their family might be pressurizing them to get a dog. In all probability, it will be the young son or daughter and really, dogs do indeed provide wonderful companionship to kids. However, if you do face a similar kind of pressure someday, give some thought to the set-up in your home before you give in to your kids pleas, because there will have to be someone who will take care of the dog s upbringing and, if your kid is less than 10 years old, he or she may not be up to this task as yet.
Another very common reason for people bringing dogs into their households is also one of the most obvious. Someone sees a cute puppy or dog, which they like very much and which is available and they bring it home. As simple as that. But really, if you come to think of it, isn t this what life s all about. The love and affection that springs up within you when you see a particular person or animal first off is probably the chemistry that is likely to work best.
Finally, you may have fond memories of a dog you had in the old days and feel that you really enjoyed the time when he was with you. It may have helped you develop personal qualities being with him and perhaps you feel that your children would also benefit from being around a pet dog.
Now that we ve examined the major reasons why people such as you may want to keep dogs, let us now try evaluating whether you are, in fact, ready to have a dog of your own. Remember, this is not a one-day exercise. You are going to be your dog s keeper for the whole of his life, which, for many dogs is 12 to 15 years.
If it is a puppy that you are bringing in, you have to be prepared to go through the entire life cycle of the dog with its attendant joys, sorrows, trials and tribulations. Training him, seeing to his needs when he is little, right up to the time when your aging dog may be on medication and may need your help to even move.
It is a labor-intensive and tiring job and you will have to forego many a party and tailor your movements to suit the needs of your pet. Don t even attempt to take on a dog in your household if you are a clean freak. There will be many times when your puppy will poop and pee all over the house and you will have to clean the muck. Don t take him on if you are basically lazy and don t like too much activity. Don t take him on if you love vacations and often travel for weeks or months at a stretch.
But, if you are prepared to spend quality time at home with your dog and are not too fussy about cleaning up your puppy s poop and have the sense of humor to accept his little pranks, maybe even in the middle of the night, a dog is the perfect companion for you.
So go ahead, join the ranks of the millions who, over the centuries, have chosen to keep a dog as their pet. You won t regret it.

With the changing time the older techniques of training a dog has been revived and new techniques which is devoid of bullying, humiliation and punishment has been implemented. In spite of the enormous variety of methods, almost every successful dog training system is preceded on positive support techniques that are advocated by many dog lovers. Their effectiveness can be heightened significantly if the trainers remember to train it young, act gently and emphasize prevention of making mistakes. These three points, if always kept operating in the background, serve to push the effectiveness of any training technique in a positive direction. All of the new, more effective, recommended means of dog training share common aim to garner effective result and 100% result could be achieved if the training is started at a young age. Remember the popular adage “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks” which is applicable in most of the cases but it is not entirely true in case of dog because any dog, regardless of age, can learn new things. The only difference is that the puppies will learn much faster and do not have deep-rooted behaviors that must be un-learned than an older dog. The earlier you are able to start training your pet; you will reap the benefits of increased effectiveness. Dogs are social animals and develop a real attachment to their owners which further enhances the chances of learning sincerely to impress their owners. Therefore owners are reminded to be gentle with their pets and try to make your training process a cooperative exercise instead of making a battle. Produce yourself as an ally for a trainee rather than a rival throughout your training process and a failure will affect your training process adversely even in the case of aggressive behavior of your dog. Too often, it has been found that the trainers found themselves to lose their interest in constantly correcting the unsuitable behavior of their pet. It is recommended that not waiting for your dog to repeat the mistake, you take the preventive measure beforehand as you must be familiar with the popular saying that “prevention is better than cure.” Such mind-set will help the owner to intervene before a problem is created instead of simply responding to the problem that will abridge the need for correction efforts and can help urging quick progress and thus decreases frustration throughout the training process making it more enjoyable for both the dog and the owner.

Ragdoll Cat behavior Problems
Ragdoll Cat Behaviour Problems Is Cat Discipline Possible? There are some common beliefs about training cats which are totaly untrue. Cats are inteligent animals and will learn new behavior much faster than you think. Many people find it hard to believe that cat discipline is possible but despite their independent nature it is possible to train a cat that a particular behaviour is bad. All it takes is some patience and consistency in their training. So give it a try and don t give up. Cats are animals not humans It is essential to remember that cats are not humans they work using their own logic and instincts. Your Ragdoll cat expects you to think the same way he does and will treat you accordingly. Violence is a poor motivator A cat will not understand the use of violence as a form of discipline and so will not associate it with their bad behaviour. The only thing this will do is make them afraid of you. Hitting your Ragdoll cat is a very bad form of punishment for bad behaviour, below are kinder ways to discipline your Ragdoll cat: The Face Push Method For times when you are near your cat when behaving badly The Face Push method should be used. It consists of a GENTLE but firm push back on your cat s face accompanied by a stern NO command. This is a strong message to cats and used consistently will re-enforce the message that a particular behaviour is wrong. The Squirt Gun When your ragdoll cat is further away and needs to be disciplined a squirt gun filled with water and a dash of vinegar is very useful. Just a quick squirt in the face with a stern NO command is enough to get the message over. The Rattle Bottle If the above techniques are not practical a small can or plastic bottle partly filled with pebbles or coins when shaken or dropped and the NO command can provide a great deterrent from bad behavior. Avoid over use of this technique to prevent your Ragdoll cat from becoming desensitised to its affect. Being consistant with these methods will soon teach your Ragdoll cat which behaviour is ok and which is unacceptable. Aggressive behavior Aggression problems in cats is not as common as it is for dogs but for many reasons cats can develop an aggression problem and it is important to address this as early as possible to avoid impacting the problem with wrong treatment from you the owner. There are different types of aggression in cats and below are the most common: Play Aggression The most common form of aggression is play aggression and is usually your cat playing rough. This is almost always because they have been taught to play like this from when they were kittens; this is called conditioned aggression . Conditioned Aggression As explained above if you have this problem then it was conditioned into your Ragdoll cat from when it was a kitten. To avoid doing this when rearing kittens always divert aggressive play onto toys and other objects like string on the end of a stick. This will help to distance the aggression from you. If necessary use a squirt gun to stop the wrong behavior along with the usual NO command. Pain Aggression If the aggression problem suddenly appears for no appparent reason your cat could be in pain. Your cat has no way of telling you if it has a medical condition and is in pain so biting or scratching you could be your cats way of either getting your attention or protecting itself. If it persists you should consult your veterinary surgeon to get a diagnosis if there is a medical problem, which needs treatment. Keeping your cat off the table This is a common problem with cats if you don’t teach them not to. A squirt in the face with the squirt gun or a drop of the rattle bottle along with the NO command may be all that is required to deter your cat from jumping up but you must be consistent so that your Ragdoll cat knows why they are being squirted. As mentioned above it is not that difficult to have a cat that is obedient and knows his boundries if the above methods are used consistantly.

Potty training dog
Potty training dog This aspect to me is one of the most important of all because this really does need to be done correctly most effectively when your dog is a puppy, i`ve seen a great deal of methods on how to do this correctly but i`ve also noticed how awkward it can be to instill potty training dog education in your dog hence like i say all animal`s information is memorably stored far better when your dog is young ! I`m always noted for saying in my articles how i`ve read numorus books on potty training dog method`s some are very educational some make the technique`s far more hardwork than they need to be (maybe to sell the book because the author sound`s technical who know`s!!) Potty training dog expertise can be learn`t from book`s however but the trouble is you have no contact whatever with the author to clarify your thought`s on their potty training dog method`s. The importance of using potty training dog ettiquette is not realized by owner`s how big this first building block is for establishing that that first bonding gap between you and your dog ! I`ve also seen some decent to good website`s on this subject matter although i have to say they haven`t covered everything i wanted or my main problem is some site`s are a bit stale and i`ve wanted new approache`s to from an educational stand point ! Which raise`s my discovery, during the last few week`s i searched the net for new resource`s to educate myself with potty training dog tip`s with futile success , however i came across a dog trainer from hollywood called Dove Cresswell and it was when i realized she was very highly respected with a massive CV to add to her credential`s i had just had to study her form more .Now this dog trainer is truly very naturally gifted for tutoring and commuicating with dog`s ( no i didn`t say Dove Dolittle)! She`s fresh and that`s exactly what this industry need`s , she combine`s a new outlook and new dog training method`s right across the board which are so very simple to implement ,not just potty training dog method`s but , dog obedience training , dog house training , all these method`s and execution of them by Dove in my opinion far out weigh other website`s and dog training book`s! If you are interesting in learning more about Dove Cresswell i have six site`s you can visit but for potty training dog info visit http://www.potty—training—dog.blogspot.com where can access more site`s with info onthi incredible dog trainer!
